God is good :)

I'm your average person. I have a good job, a family, and we are pretty well off. I work for Verizon. We make a decent profit on each phone and plan we sell, so I have a pretty good paycheck. I'm also a Christian! I love God with all my heart! I was saved out of a life of drugs, and alcohol, and am now living for Christ!

There's a vote coming up in my state on whether to pass homosexual marriages as legal. I'm voting yes. I mean, America is giving me my freedom, why should I stand in the way of other's freedom? It's not hurting me! :) God is so good!

My wife and I only have 3 kids. They were planned pregnancies. Birth control is such a blessing! Thank you God! I wouldn't be able to stand more than that though. I don't know how on earth people deal with 7 and 8 kids!

I love my Bible! :) It's my favorite book in a whole world! It saved me from my sins and gave me the Truth and the Life; Jesus Christ! I love Genesis! It's amazing that God preserved all those animal fossils for us over the six ages He took to create the world. It's so amazing that God can take just one cell, and turn it into a human being over that period of time! Thank so so much God! :)

Let me tell you about my WONDERFUL church! The pastor is going through 1 Peter. Last week he spoke on chapter 1, verse 17. That says

"And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with great fear throughout the time of your exile."

He made an excellent point that this is how we are judged. If the most current deed we have done is sin, and we die, we die in our sin. We need to make sure we are holy and upright before Jesus Christ! If we confess Jesus as Lord, and believe in our hearts the He will save us, we will be saved, and have a restored fellowship with Him! :) Such a wonderful truth!

How many of you did I just describe? How many christians in America are exactly like that?

Do we claim to be Christian and live like the world?

Social Workers for Christ!

The government has social workers, why can't God?

We are Social Workers! Or as some people might put it, evangelists. Why are we called Social Workers? It describes what we do! We carry an Evangbible with us whenever we leave the house, tracts in our pockets, etc. We get the Word out. The only word that's important. It's the most wonderful news anyone could ask for!

Join the cause! To be a Social Worker I'd suggest:

Buying a small Bible (that fits in your pocket) and MARK IT UP! Highlight the Romans Road (Romans 3:23; 6:23; 5:8; 10:13; 10:9 in that order), and any other verse that will help you prove difficult points in biblical discussions. I have included my highlighted verses below. ALSO make sure you write the verses you highlighted in the back of your Bible along with it's topic so you can find it in a pinch.

Please like us on Facebook! http://www.facebook.com/pages/Social-Workers/151470048205509?ref=ts

Also - about these verses. Some of them are not immediately clear and will take some thought and/or interpretation. So you probably want to look at them before you just go write it in your Evangbible.

Verses that help when discussing:

- The Holy Spirit: Isaiah 48:16

- Jesus is God: Revelation 22:13, 16a (the "I" in both those passages are the same person), John 10:30

- Proves Evolution Wrong: Hebrews 1:2b; Exodus 32:21,24 (The excuse Aaron gives for the golden calf is the exact same reason scientists give for evolution. "It just happened". Look how God punished the Israelites for that excuse. I don't think He accepts it.)

- Works: Ephesians 2:8-9

- Proves life after death: Matthew 22:32

- God will judge by your works (not to be confused with being *saved* by your works) 1 Peter 1:17

- "You offended me!" 2 Timothy 3:16

- "I'm a good person." Jeremiah 17:9

- "I'll get saved later." Hebrews 9:27

- Eternal Security: John 10:28,29; Matthew 10:29-31 (best one to use); Matthew 7:13,14

- "Do I have to go to church if I get saved?" 2 Corinthians 5:17

Sunday Morning Chapel

I learned a lot this morning in Sunday Morning chapel here at Word of Life Bible Institute. The message was brought to us by Mr. Mark Strout. He spoke on Ephesians 4:17-24, and challenged us with the idea that what we think about is what we are. He said that our thoughts are SO closely tied to our actions that God considers them equally important and equally responsible (Proverbs 23:7; Matthew 5:28). "The overflow of your heart comes out of your mouth."

With this in mind, are you a pillar or puppet? Are you known as being stable, like a pillar? Or are you a puppet, which does exactly as it's told? Mr. Strout challenged us to be a pillar. The only way you can be transformed is if your mind is ALSO transformed. God does this by first transforming our mind (Romans 12:2), which brings me to his first point:

1. The only way to think/reason correctly is to think/reason according to the Word of God - John 8:31-32

God wants to transform our thinking with truth, Satan wants to conform our thinking with error.

So, how does Satan attack us? - Ephesians 6:16

If the fiery darts talked about in Ephesians were real fiery darts, the Bible would tell us to pick up our shield of iron, or leather, or a shield made of something that will put the fire out. That tells me something about Satan's darts, AND it's also another reminder of how powerful God is. If we are to take up our shield of faith, that means faith can put out the darts of the devil.

Way back in medieval times, archers would stick small wads of burning tar onto the end of their arrows, and then shoot them over the castle wall. They were hoping that it would land on a flammable substance such as hay or a thatch roof, and destruction on the inside. Satan does the same thing to us.

So how do those darts get 'inside our walls' (aka in our mind)?

I. Through your eyes
   - What you look at what you think about - 1 John 2:16; Psalms 101:3
II. Through your ears
   - What you listen to determines how you think - Proverbs 1:5

Now, this doesn't only apply to music, but listening to other people too. If you listen to ungodly council, take ungodly advice, or hang around lots of swearing or complaining, that is affecting you.

But it also DOES apply to music. Satan is using music to mass-influence people's minds.

Why does music matter so much? Music affects 1) Your emotions. If you don't believe me try watching a movie with no music. And 2) music imprints ideas on your mind, and then plays them back, and back, and back, and back. Can you recite more error from the worldly music than truth of God's Word? Col. 3:16. Not necessarily Scripture, but there are plenty of Christian artists who write songs that are pure Scripture (Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Third Day) all three of those artists have music that is pure Scripture. Fill your mind with that!

III. Music affects our spirits - Satan may be able to suggest ideas/implant ideas in our minds as well as God - 2 Corinthians 11:3; Acts 5:3; Nehemiah 2:12.
So Satan is able to use music for his will as well as God using it for His will.

Manage what occupies your mind.
   I. Deliberately fill your mind with truth.
       a. Listen to the Bible
       b. Display Bible verses where you will see them and get familiar with them.
II. Deliberately reject thoughts that contradict truth.
You know what these are. You have them every day (I'm right along with ya!)

III. Deliberately fix your mind on Truth - Phillipians 4:8
Another good way to phrase this is "Think about Truth on purpose. Meditate on it. Chew on it."

So, let me ask you again; are you a pillar or a puppet? Are you a devoted Christ-follower? Or a 'Claim to be' Christian that isn't any different than the world except for the big JESUS sticker across his/her forehead? Be PILLARS! Be mature in Christ!

I want to thank Mr. Mark Strout for sharing this message this morning! It's a good reminder to stand strong and know what you believe.

What do you believe?

What do you believe? What are your standards?

That's what this blog is for. I'm Mickey Gonzalez, guitarist of the band BLoodCure, and I want to challenge you to figure out what EXACTLY you believe, and why you believe it. No more apathetic Christians! The Bible says "I can do all thing through Christ who strengthens me." It also says that if you have the faith of a mustard seed, you will move a mountain! I get pretty excited when I think of that power! That power is the power of Jesus, it's in us!

So, we're not going to talk about the usual 'church' topics. What's something that you personally don't know what to think about? Maybe it's not that clear in the Bible. Post it here and we'll discuss it!
